In this scenario, putting aside their battle for Yaichi to survive the freezing Arctic waters and a giant predator.
Sora Ginko: (Adjusting her blue bikini while standing on a precarious ice floe) "Ika, focus. We're miles from the research station, and the Arctic sea ice is too thin this year to support our weight for long."
Ika Sainokami: (Adjusting her red bikini and grinning sharply) "Who cares about the ice, Ginko? Look! Our guest has finally arrived. He looks hungry!"
Barbar: (Erupts from the dark water, massive jaws snapping at the edge of their ice block) "GRRR-RUAA!"
Sora Ginko: "It’s a Barbar! Stay back—if those jaws lock onto you, you’re finished. We need a 'Tsume' strategy. I’ll distract it with my cooling 'Snow White' aura."
Ika Sainokami: (Laughs maniacally) "And I’ll be the aggressive attacker! Since we’re actually getting along for once, let’s show this oversized eel the power of the best duo in the Shogi world!"
Sora Ginko: "Fine. On my signal, we jump to the thicker multi-year ice. It can't break through the old ice as easily. Ready?"
Ika Sainokami: "Ready! After we beat this thing, the next match is for Yaichi-kun's heart!"
Sora Ginko: (Sighs) "Some things never change. Now... MOVE!"
In a surreal 2024 Arctic afternoon, the rules of physics—and shogi—take a backseat to a bizarre escape plan. To avoid the snapping jaws of the Barbar, the two rivals use a strange tactic to reach the safety of the upper atmosphere.
Sora Ginko: (Looking at the thin ice breaking under the Barbar’s weight) "Ika, the ice won't hold! We have no choice. We have to use that technique!"
Ika Sainokami: (Adjusting her red bikini with a manic grin) "Hehe! You mean the 'Sky-High Defense'? I never thought I’d be doing this with my greatest rival. Let’s do it, Ginko!"
Sora Ginko: (Taking a massive, deep breath) "On three. One... two... THREE!"
Both: (Inhale deeply, their bodies expanding round and light like giant parade balloons) "PHHHH-WHOOOO!"
Ika Sainokami: (Now a round, floating sphere in her red bikini, her voice high-pitched) "Look at me! I’m the ultimate floating piece! I can see the whole Arctic from up here!"
Sora Ginko: (Floating beside her, a calm blue balloon in the sky) "Focus, Ika. We’re drifting over the open ocean. If the wind changes, we’ll end up in Russia."
Barbar: (Snapping its jaws uselessly at the air below them) "GRRRR...?"
Ika Sainokami: "Bye-bye, fishy! You can't reach us in the stratosphere! Ginko, since we’re both stuck like this, let's settle our 2024 record right now. Who looks more 'airy' and majestic?"
Sora Ginko: (Sighs, her voice echoing in the wind) "You’re unbelievable. Just stay inflated until we find a research vessel. And don't let your shark teeth pop yourself!"
Ika Sainokami: "Hehe! No promises!"
In a fictional crossover encounter, the professional Shogi duo from The Ryuo's Work Is Never Done! faces off against the invincible pit-dweller from the Kirby universe.
Ryou Tsukiyomizaka: (Adjusting her light blue bikini while glaring at a dark hole in the sand) "Hey, what’s with this creepy pit? It’s ruining the vibe of our beach day! If this thing thinks it can intimidate the 'Ladies' Gyokuza,' it's got another thing coming."
Machi Kugui: (Smoothing her yellow bikini and opening her fan gracefully) "Careful, Ryou. My intuition as a reporter—and a player—tells me this isn't a standard hazard. Look at those eyes in the darkness. It doesn't seem to follow the rules of a fair match."
Barbar: (Suddenly lunges upward from the sand, its massive brown eel-like body towering over them with a wide, toothless maw) "B-BRRRRRRRR!"
Ryou Tsukiyomizaka: (Jumping back, startled but defiant) "Whoa! It’s huge! It’s like a Shogi board where every square is a trap. Machi, what’s the move? We can’t just let this thing swallow us!"
Machi Kugui: (Closing her fan with a sharp snap) "Don't be reckless. In the Kirby world, a Barbar is invincible—you cannot defeat it by force. The 'best relationship' move here is a tactical retreat. We move to a different shore where the sand is solid. Even a Dragon King knows when to sacrifice a piece to save the game."
Ryou Tsukiyomizaka: (Grinning) "Fine, fine. You’re the strategist. Let’s race to the boardwalk—last one there buys the shaved ice!"
Barbar: (Snaps its jaws at empty air as the two flee, retreating back into its pit) "..."
In a surreal, dream-like scenario where the logic of the Kirby universe takes over, the two professional Shogi players find a whimsical way to escape the beach and the lurking Barbar.
Ryou Tsukiyomizaka: (Standing on the shoreline in her light blue bikini) "Ugh, that eel thing is still waiting for us in the pit! We need a way out that doesn't involve the ground. Hey, Machi... look at those round pink guys over there. They just breathe in and float away!"
Machi Kugui: (Adjusting her yellow bikini and looking thoughtful) "It seems this world operates on 'Copy Ability' logic. If we want to avoid a trap on the sand, we must change our state of being. Are you suggesting we...?"
Ryou Tsukiyomizaka: "Exactly! Just watch this!"
(Both Ryou and Machi stand side-by-side, their friendship and competitive spirit perfectly in sync. They take a massive, deep breath together.)
Ryou & Machi: (In unison) “Huuuuuuuuu—!”
Machi Kugui: (Her cheeks puffing out as her body lightens and rounds out like a soft yellow balloon) "Mmph! It... actually works! I feel lighter than a Shogi piece!"
Ryou Tsukiyomizaka: (Inflating into a bouncy light blue balloon shape, her feet dangling off the sand) "Haha! Look at us! We're totally floating! See ya later, Barbar!"
(The two girls, now spherical and buoyant, gently lift off the beach. They bob up into the sunny sky, floating side-by-side over the ocean.)
Machi Kugui: (Floating gracefully next to Ryou) "I must admit, the view of the coastline from up here is quite journalistic. Though, I hope we don't float all the way to the moon."
Ryou Tsukiyomizaka: (Kicking her legs playfully in the air) "As long as we're together, we’ll figure it out. Besides, floating is way faster than walking! This is the best 'move' we've made all day."
Barbar: (Watching from the pit below as the two colorful shapes drift high into the clouds) "...?"
